Jennifer Lawrence talks ‘Twilight’ and Kristen Stewart.

MTV News was lucky enough to score a few minutes with Jennifer Lawrence recently to talk all about her exciting upcoming projects, including “The Hunger Games” and “X-Men: First Class.” While discussing the huge fan-following behind the “Games” trilogy, the topic of comparisons to another popular book series-turned-box-office dominator, “Twilight,” and its leading lady, Kristen Stewart, came up.

Given that “The Hunger Games” and “Twilight” have a few similarities, MTV asked Lawrence if she’s spoken to Stewart about the experience, or if she’d want to commiserate in any way about starring in hugely popular book-to-movie franchises.

“No, I haven’t spoken to her,” Lawrence said, and then playfully acted out a little pantomime scene of what might happen if and when the two ever do meet.

To do so, Lawrence used a series of incomprehensible grunts and gestures that could be loosely translated as, “Hi, how are you? You’re in those movies. You are, too. Cool.”

“I don’t really know what we’d say,” Lawrence admitted. “[We’d] just be like [gestures to an invisible book in her hand], ‘Books! Who knew?'”

There are more videos as well! Jennifer also talks X-Men: First Class, ’60s fashion and X-Men director, Hunger Games casting, archery and more & Hunger Games story.

Jennifer Lawrence says taking ‘X-Men: First Class’ role wasn’t exactly a simple decision.

(via The lovely Jennifer Lawrence stopped by MTV News recently to explain why taking on Mystique wasn’t actually a no-brainer, and how it felt to step into Rebecca Romijn’s very pretty and very hard-to-fill shoes.

“It was a brainer,” Lawrence said about her decision to take the role, adding that she first had to familiarize herself with the world of X-Men before reading the script.

“The movies are fantastic. I watched them and became a huge fan and after reading the [“X-Men: First Class”] script I really loved it and I loved the character,” she explained. “I was already a fan of the director, I was already a fan of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbeneder, so then it became a little bit more of a no-brainer.”

Regarding the fact that Lawrence is not the first actress to play Mystique, the Oscar nominee joked that it would have helped if her predecessor had been less attractive.

“It would have made my job a lot easier if she wasn?t the most gorgeous person in the world,” Lawrence said. “I was like, ?Really??”

She went on to say that she was able to take a few things from Romijn’s portrayal, but that the fact that this film is a prequel helped open things up a bit.

“It was good because you can take physical traits, but it?s nice because it?s an origin story so it?s before [Mystique] became who she is, so you do have a little bit more freedom.”
